i like finishing shitty first drafts but i find they’re so cringe-inducing that i can’t wait to edit. i don’t think anyone really has a first attempt and achieves gold. my writing professor told me that everyone wants to be mozart getting down perfection in one go but beethoven was just as good, the only difference is that beethoven’s pieces were full of errors and notes. besides i think if you’re not quite happy with your writing it only means you want to be better, and that’s what the craft is about?
